Our mission is to assist families in creating personalized funeral experiences that honor the lives of their loved ones.  

For many years, we have served our community by providing healing and meaningful funeral and memorial services that honor life and meet the needs of those who grieve. Our hope is that from the moment you walk through our doors, you feel welcomed, respected, and heard.


History

Our family's heritage has been in this area for over 100 years. We are local people with deep West Texas roots who care for the local community. We have given a lifetime of service to the area personally and professionally.

Tankersley Funeral Home began operations on August 1, 1985. Sam Tankersley is the funeral director in charge and handles day to day operations along with his wife, Tena. He graduated from Knox City High School and then attended the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1972. He received his funeral director's license in 1973 and embalmer's license in 1974. Sam has resided in Stamford since 1973. Tena was born and raised in the Ericksdahl community 10 miles east of Stamford. She graduated from Lueders-Avoca High School and attended Texas Tech University. Tena relocated to Stamford in 1976. The Tankersleys attend Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl.
