Jerry Lynn Smith

Jerry Lynn Smith was born to Johnnie Alvis and Myrle Lynn (Poyner) Smith in Henrietta, TX, on July 13, 1946. He was one of four children to bless the Smith Family, which included two sons and two daughters. Jerry graduated from Odessa High School in 1964.

Jerry served in the U S Navy from 1965 to 1981 in the Navy Seabees Branch. He earned the Vietnam Ribbon of Honor.

On September 14, 1968, he was united in marriage to Dollie Darline Robinson at McAllen, TX. They established their home in Odessa, TX, where many happy times were shared as they raised their daughter Penny Lynn. In 2012 the Smiths retired after 25 plus years of owning and operating Jerry’s Sewing Machine Clinic in Odessa, TX.

Jerry and Dollie moved to Stamford in 2015 to enjoy their retirement. Jerry was an avid golfer at the Stamford Country Club, a talented pool player and fishing was his pastime passion. Jerry often planned trips to Arroyo City, TX to visit his mother-in-law, Dollie Robinson where he spent time fishing and helping her with projects. Jerry was a kind, gentle man who enjoyed people and greeted them with a smile. He was Baptist by faith.

Jerry was a beloved husband, dad, and papa, who passed peacefully from his beloved family at the age of 74, to receive his angel's wings on Saturday morning, December 12, 2020. Cremation was selected with no services planned at this time.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Myrle Smith, brother-in-law Joe Allen and father-in-law Alvia Robinson.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 52 years, Dollie of Stamford, TX; daughter, Penny Lynn Smith of San Angelo, TX; grandson, Ashton Smith of San Angelo, TX; brother, Johnnie A. Smith, Jr. and wife Beverly of Bemidji, MN; sister, Janet Kay Allen of Springfield, MO; sister, Melody Phillips and husband Mark of Carrollton, TX; mother-in-law, Dollie Robinson of Arroyo City, TX; several nephews, nieces, and friends.
