Cecil Johnson

Cecil Johnson was born in Stamford, TX on August 19, 1943 to Riley and Curlee Tramble Cooper.

Cecil passed into his eternal life on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in Abilene, TX, at the age of 77. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, 807 Columbia. Cecil will be laid to rest next to his parents in West Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Cecil was a lifetime resident of Stamford, TX where he attended the Church of Christ. Cecil loved helping take care of his nieces and nephews when they were growing up, he often referred to them as his, “Wickas”. Cecil also enjoyed watching westerns and eating. He loved gatherings with family and friends, and he loved to mingle and talk to people. Cecil would not say names, but he never forgot anyone after meeting them. Cecil had numerous people that he loved, and they loved him, but there was one that exceeded all others, and that was Teresa Lee, she called him, “her big baby Mr. J”. Cecil also loved his Sagebrush Family.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, 3 brothers, Alfonso Johnson, Sr., Richard Johnson, Sr., and Tommy McGowan, and 2 sisters, Ella Louise Johnson and Dorothy McGowan.

Cecil is survived by, his nieces, Patricia Collier of Tyler, TX, Belinda Johnson (Chris) of Haskell, TX, Connie Johnson of Stamford, TX, Cynthia Williams (Kenneth) of Hamlin, TX, Denise Johnson (Willie) of Denton, TX, Zeta Hall (Antone) of Tyler, TX, Sandra Sanders of Dallas, TX, Darlene McGee of Stamford, TX, Marilyn Griffin of Stamford, TX, and Annette Bolden of Dallas, TX; nephews, Alton Johnson of Abilene, TX, Steven Johnson (Michelle) of Haskell, TX, Richard Johnson (Robin) of Dallas, TX, Kevin Johnson of Stamford, TX, Darrell Cook of Dallas, TX, Michael Cook of Stamford, TX, and Vernon Jones of Abilene,
TX; a sister-in-law, Thelma Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Teresa Lee.
