Mary Elizabeth “Beth” McKeever

Beth McKeever of Stamford, Texas passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, May 6, 2016. She was 80 years old. Beth is cherishing being with her parents, husband and grandson in the beauty of God’s kingdom.
Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Thompson was born on February 25, 1936 to William Horace Thompson and Mary Ella Ferguson Thompson in the Green Hill Community north of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
On July 21, 1962 Beth married Billy Joe McKeever in Dallas, Texas before moving to Stamford. They were married for 53 years before Billy Joe passed away in 2015. Beth was a devoted member to St. John’s Methodist Church where she enjoyed being involved in many activities. She shared her many versatile talents in her church work from being the chancel choir director for many years to delighting in being an elementary Sunday school teacher for almost 49 years. She said it was her calling. She also served as church secretary for several years. Beth shared her uplifting personality and smile with all who knew her. She enjoyed giving to others by teaching art classes.
Survivors include sons, Joseph Andrew McKeever and wife Lisa; James Michael McKeever and wife Susie all of Stamford, TX; daughters, Amanda Mischelle Gott and husband David of Round Mountain, TX; and Kristi Lin Gray of Stanton, TX; sister, Elaine Allen of Mt. Pleasant, TX and brother Mike Thompson of Lawton, OK; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one aunt Margaret Conner of Mt. Pleasant, TX and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one grandson, Beau Simpson, and one brother, David Thompson.
Beth’s life will be remembered and cherished during funeral services Monday, May 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Methodist Church with the Rev. John Erwin officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
