Thomas Smith Hickman, IV was born May 20, 1969, in Fort Worth, TX to Thomas Smith Hickman, III and Carol (Jircik) Hickman.
Tommy passed into the loving arms of his Savior at his home on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Tommy’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service on his birthday, May 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dalton Mathis officiating. Services will be held at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel (807 Columbia) Stamford, TX.
Tommy graduated from Stamford High School in 1987. During his high school career Tommy earned the Lone Star Award in FFA, received a biology award, and was nominated as a candidate for West Point. Tommy continued his education at Texas Tech for 2 years before transferring to San Angelo State. Tommy always had a job working somewhere. Tommy later attended Harley Davidson School and worked for Harley Davidson where he learned to build the American Iron Horse Motorcycle. He traveled to Sturgis, South Dakota during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally to exhibit the cycle. Tommy was a man of adventure who loved to commune with nature even when working he chose outdoor jobs over indoor job advancements. He worked for several years as an engineer for Vertical Structures in Kentucky climbing and building high towers.
As a child he was a member of the Stamford Sheriff Posse. When Tommy became a young man he participated in rodeos in the bull riding event, still had his youthful love for fishing, and mastered the art of sailing. Tommy loved animals, he currently had a cat named Samantha, and three kittens named; Hip, Hop and Rap. Above all, he was his niece Raegan’s favorite uncle. Tommy was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Smith Hickman, III, his paternal grandparents, T.S. Hickman, Jr., and Mary Frances Hickman and maternal grandparents, Frank and Bonnie Jircik.
Survivors include, his mother, Carol Jircik Peacock and husband David Wayne Peacock of Hawley, TX; sister, Jennefer Snider of The Colony; brother, Dallas Hickman of Rockport, TX; niece, Raegan Snider of The Colony; niece and husband, Kelsey and Dalton Mathis of Snyder, TX; niece, Braleigh Hickman of College Station, TX; uncle, Dr. Frank Paul Jircik and wife Sherri of Fort Worth, TX; special friend, Sandy Beggs of Abilene, TX; other relatives and friends.
