Thomas Smith Hickman Iii

Tom Hickman, 79, will be laid to rest in Willow Cemetery on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Richard Strait officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford, TX.

Thomas Smith Hickman, III was born July 10, 1942, in Hillsboro, TX to T.S. Hickman, Jr. and Mary Frances (Williams) Hickman. Tom completed his formal education at Paschal High School graduating in 1960.

Mr. Hickman attended Wesleyan College and Tarleton State College before entering the University of Houston where he completed his degree and received his pharmaceutical license in 1973. He then began his career as a pharmacist, a career that eventually brought him to Stamford, TX where he purchased Dobbins Pharmacy in 1977.  Tom owned and operated Country Drug Store for 44 years before retiring in December of 2021.

Tom married Miss Carol Jircik on October 11, 1968, in the courthouse in downtown Fort Worth, TX.

Tom was a Mason and a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. In his younger years he enjoyed riding bulls in rodeos, building planes, and flying. He loved to be on the water sailing and teaching his family to sail.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, T.S. and Mary.

Survivors include, his wife, Carol Hickman of the home; daughter, Jenifer Snider of The Colony, son, Tom Hickman, IV, of Abilene, TX, son, Dallas Hickman of Rockport, TX; sister, Mary Russell of Fort Worth, TX; three grandchildren, Kelsey Mathis and husband Dalton, Braleigh Hickman, and Reagan Snider; two great grandchildren, Brazos Mathis and Swayde Mathis, other relatives and friends.
