Sandra Elaine White

On Friday, August 29, 2025, Sandra Elaine White, 79, passed away in the Winfield Nursing Home in Crockett, Texas. She was born May 24, 1946 to Tom Walter and Opal Faye (Hatley) Gilbreath in Stamford, Texas. Sandra was a 1964 graduate of Stamford High School. She also graduated from Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, Texas with a Vocational Nursing Certificate. Sandra passed the Texas State Board Exam with scores of 3rd highest in her class.

Miss Sandra Gilbreath was united in marriage to Mr. Charles David White on July 31, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Stamford, Texas where she later did volunteer work, along with preparing and running the power point each Sunday for several years. Sandra also worked for 14 years as an LVN, mostly at the 30-bed Hubbard Hospital in Hubbard, Texas. She later worked for BCBSTX in Dallas, Texas for 17 ½ years before taking early retirement at age 55. In the community of Stamford, Sandra was an active member of the Pierian Club. Her cherished private time was spent caring for her family, cooking, sewing and watching NCIS on TV.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Opal Gilbreath, daughter, Stephanie Elaine White on December 12, 2008, sister, Mary Ann Wright on July 31, 2022.

Sandra’s memories will live on through her husband, Charles David White of Crockett, Texas; son, Michael White of Crockett, Texas; grandchildren, Christian Warren of Kennedale, Texas and Michael Ray White of Crockett, Texas; great grandchildren, Nova Lynn Warren and Aspen Rose Warren; her brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Mary Lou Gilbreath of Stamford, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sandra’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, September 4, 2025 with Visitation from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joe Walton officiating at Tankersley Funeral Home 807 Columbia St. Stamford, Texas. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
