Ruby Olson, age 89, was welcomed at the gates of heaven by her Savior, her husband and her son on Monday morning, March 7, 2022.
Funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Rd, Abilene, TX at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, with Rev. Clyde Kieschnick officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the family plot in the Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery in the (Ericksdahl Community) Avoca, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Ruby Laverne Baitz was born January 5, 1933, in Old Glory, TX to the late Fritz and Emma (Tredemeyer) Baitz. Ruby spent her formative years in Old Glory and graduated from Old Glory High School. On March 2, 1952, Miss Baitz was united in marriage to George Olson in the Zion Lutheran Church in Sagerton, TX. To this union two sons were born, Donald and Gerald and lasted 50 years prior to George’s death in 2003.
Ruby loved spending time with her family, her grand children were her heart and joy. Ruby was a great cook, loved gardening, and was known for her plum jelly.
Preceding Ruby in death were her parents, Fritz and Emma, her husband, George, youngest son Gerald, sister Mae Stegemoeller, brother, Melvin Baitz and brother, Leslie Baitz.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Donald Fred Olson and his wife Vicky of Tool, TX; daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Olson of Denton, TX; grandson, Brian Olson and his wife Tracie, granddaughter, Keri Perkins and her husband Kendall, grandson Matt Olson and his wife Tiffany and granddaughter, Cristalle Olson, grandaughter, Andrea Benson, grandaughter, Amy Benson; great granddaughter, Brook Davis and husband Jacob, great granddaughter, Emilie Olson, great grandson, Jace Perkins, great grandson, Greg Perkins, great granddaughter, Amy Perkins Ruby’s birthday twin , great grandson, Brayden Olson, great grandson, Cooper Olson, great grandson, Kane Olson; great-great granddaughter, Hadley Davis and great-great grandson, Hayden Davis; sister, Dorothy Clark of Haskell, TX; numerous other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Olson, Matthew Olson, Kendall Perkins, Ray Clark, Clayton Stegemoeller, Calvin Stegemoeller, and Clyde Stegemoeller. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Carl Stegemoeller.
