Ronnie Lynn Lusk

January 5, 1949 — April 16, 2023

Ronnie Lusk, 74, returned to his heavenly home on April 16, 2023, after a valiant battle with health issues. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Ronnie was a wonderful man that was loved, will always be cherished, and greatly missed. “Grandpa,” as the little people in his life knew him, was a loving husband, father, and friend.

Ronnie’s journey in life began on January 5, 1949, in Lubbock, Texas, the youngest of four sons born to Norman and Irene (Beasley) Lusk.  Ronnie would grow up in Knox City, TX where he made lifelong friends and attended school at Knox City High School.

Community service was Ronnie’s love language and his affirmation to this began on May 4, 1967, when he joined the U.S. Navy where he served his country until February 12, 1971. While on leave from the Navy Ronnie was united in marriage to Miss Nelda Covey on February 10, 1968, in O’Brien, TX. A union lasting 31 years and blessed with three sons: Corey, Kevin and Casey prior to Nelda passing away on March 2, 1999.

Following Ronnie’s departure from the Navy he worked for 11 years at Kelly-Moore Paints and 1 year for the Texas Tech Police Force before moving to Stamford in 1984 where he found his greatest passion for a job while serving on the Stamford Police Force until the Fall of 1999 when he retired. Ronnie began a second career in Stamford working as a bail bondsman for several years before completely retiring. Ronnie was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lions Club and the VFW while residing in Stamford. His spare time was spent playing golf, pool, dancing, fishing, and gambling both on the golf course and in the casinos.

On July 19, 2014, Ronnie and Kimberly Leverett were married in Lubbock, TX, where they made their home and became members of the Lone Star Cowboy Church.

Ronnie was preceded by his parents, Norman and Irene Lusk, his wife Nelda, his son Kevin Lusk and brother, Gene Lusk.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Kimberly Lusk of Lubbock, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Roxann Lusk of Lubbock, TX; son, Casey Lusk of Ralls, TX; stepdaughter, Aimee Ham of Fort Fairfield, ME; stepson, Ryan Mendenhall of Dallas, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Sherry Lusk of Lubbock, TX; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Peggy Lusk of Abilene, TX; 6 grandchildren, Heather Lusk, Zack Lusk and wife Keaton, Maryona Lusk, John Rea, Celey Lusk, and Winter Lusk, 3 step grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Ronnie’s life will be celebrated during Memorial Services at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia) Stamford, TX with Pastor Jerry Stewart officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
