Robbie Ann Russell was born on October 29, 1946 in Stamford, Texas and went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 14, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Robbie was born in Stamford, Texas to Norris and Nancy (Harrison) Russell. She attended school in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School in May, 1965. While at Stamford High School, she was a member of the Pep Squad and many other student organization. She then attended McMurry University in Abilene, Texas and graduated with an Education Degree.
After graduating from McMurry, Robbie made Abilene her home, living there for nearly 50 years. Robbie was a devoted member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Abilene and regularly participated in Sunday School and Worship and was an enthusiastic helper in many of the church activities. While in Abilene, she worked at various jobs, most notably as a caregiver and as a telemarketer.Robbie’s passion was for her family and friends. She often spoke of the “good times and memories” with her friends and always relished family time at birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She never forgot a birthday – one could always count on a card and either one or more cassette tapes on which she had recorded music of various kinds, or several paperback books that she had picked up at the book sale. Family and friends loved Robbie for her sweet spirit and her giving nature.
Robbie is survived by her brother Russ of Shawnee, Oklahoma, her nephew Jeremy Russell and wife Sally of Moore, Oklahoma, niece Meredith Hines of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and grandnieces and nephews, Ainslee, Gracie, Samuel, and Simon Russell also of Moore, Oklahoma.
Services will be at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel in Stamford on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 1pm. Interment will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
In lieu of flowers, that family has requested donations in Robbie’s memory to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 525 Beech St., Abilene, TX. 79601.
