Ralph Wayne Mitchel

Ralph Wayne Mitchel, 88, of Stamford passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019. Mr. Mitchel selected cremation and will be interred at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery later.

Wayne was born June 24, 1931 to William Denver Mitchel and Neva (Sawyer) Mitchel in Fritch, TX. He graduated from college with multiple degrees, a B.S. and B.A. in agriculture. Wayne served in the Navy from 1957 to 1979. Following his career in the Navy Wayne engaged in farming in San Saba County, prior to moving to Jones County in 2002.

Wayne married Mary Coffey on October 1, 1982 in Brown County, TX. The Mitchel’s were members of the Jesus Saves Church in Anson, TX.

Wayne is survived by his wife Mary Mitchel of the home; 3 sons, David Mitchel, Daniel Mitchel, and Randal Mitchel all  from TX; 3 daughters, Ann Meneses of PA, Laura Michelle Swanlund of Stamford, TX, and Lorrie Ann Hammons of TX; 1 brother William Glyn Mitchel of Wichita Falls, TX; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents and 1 son, Michael Mitchel.
