Rachel Moreno Perez

Rachel Perez, 68, passed peacefully to her eternal home on August 18, 2020, surrounded by her family at her home in Stamford.

Rachel was born on May 7, 1952 in Robstown, Texas to Merced and Martha Moreno, the 14 ^th of 19 children. She moved to Stamford as a child and attended school there, graduating in 1970. She started working for the Russell Newman Factory in 1973. In 2007 Rachel went to work at the Rolling Plains Detention Center as a property manager, retiring from there in 2019.

Rachel married Pete Perez on December 27, 1996, a union that built a loving home together for 24 years and was blessed with four children.

Rachel’s legacy is carried on in this life by her children, Samuel Rodriguez, Jr. and wife April of Granbury, Texas, Stacie Hernandez of Richland Hills, Texas, Peter Perez Jr. of Hanover, PA, and Martha Silguero and husband Victor of Stamford, TX, 1 sister, Irene Garcia of Abilene, TX, and 5 brothers, Ben Moreno of Abilene, Pete Moreno, Joe Moreno, and Mike Moreno, all of Stamford, and Vince Moreno of Fort Worth, TX. She was a grandma to 13 grandchildren and great grandma to 5 with 2 on the way. Rachel loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, Merced Jr., Larry, Raul, Frank, Tino, and Sylvester, and 6 sisters, Frances Gomez, Susie Vasquez, Carmen Ballesteros, Dominga Moreno, Aurelia Delgado, and Janie Mendoza.

A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Tankersley Funeral Home at 807 Columbia, Stamford, Texas. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford, Texas with Covid-19 social distancing rules in effect. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, Texas officiated by Father Joseph Kurumbel.
