Philip Olson, Jr., of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 21 days Philip will be laid to rest with full military honors during graveside services at 2:00 pm Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery (Ericksdahl community) Avoca, TX with Rev. Richard Strait officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
On March 16, 1930, in Stamford, Texas Philip Reinhold Olson, Jr., was born to the late Philip Olson, Sr. and Genevieve Nelson Olson. Philip was the eldest of two sons born to the Olson Family. Philip was reared in the Ericksdahl community and graduated from Stamford High School.
After graduation Philip joined the U. S. Army serving his country for 22 years, 6 months and 9 days before retiring. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. He completed his working career at Dry Wall Products in Colorado Springs, Colorado as an accountant. Philip was a lifetime member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and maintained an active interest in his hometown community and church until his health would no longer permit.
He was preceded by his wife, Tong S. “Mira” Olson, his parents, Philip and Genevieve Olson, and his brother, Warren R. Olson.
Survivors include his daughters: Diana and husband Hassan Aberchah of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Deborah Karten-Olson of France; grandchildren, Sara Castillo and Candace Griffin-Campbell; one great grandchild, Ava Ellen Raquel Castillo all from Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
