Paul L. Griggs

Paul Griggs, age 91, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene, TX. Visitation will be Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home 807 Columbia in Stamford. Graveside Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25 ^th in Hawley Cemetery with Rev. Bob LupPlace officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Paul Louise Griggs was born December 16, 1926 to J.B. Griggs and Beulah Buckhanon Griggs in Ibex, TX. Paul graduated from Stamford High School before joining the Merchant Marines for 1 year. He continued his military career in the First Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. On his return to Stamford he met and later married the love of his life Ms. Artrella Anne West December 9, 1950. The Griggs Family moved to Hawley in 1973 where they currently reside. He was a member of the Hawley Church of Christ and the building contractor that built the current church. By trade Paul was a carpenter/building contractor who enjoyed building homes, but his hobby was raising quarter horses.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Myrtle Nix, Waldean McKneely and Mary Griggs.

He is lovely survived by his wife of 67 years, Artrella Anne Griggs of Hawley, TX; son, Joe Griggs and wife Cevellia of Merkel, TX; 2 daughters, Cynthia Ross of Fort Worth, TX and Teresa Demory and husband Mike of Pierre, South Dakota; brother Carl Griggs and wife Nancy of Stamford, TX; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
