Lifetime Stamford resident Patsy Pugh passed away December 30, 2022, in Abilene, TX, at the age of 90. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Wes Horn officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Patsy Elouise Toney was born May 23, 1932, in Stamford, TX. She was one of two daughters and three sons born to the late Charlie and Otha Ann (Garrett) Toney. She received her formal education from the Stamford schools.
Miss Patsy Toney married Mr. Joyce Pugh on February 25, 1949, in Stamford, TX. To this union was born one son, Jimmie Pugh.
Patsy was a lady who cherished a simple no fuss lifestyle. She enjoyed gardening along side her husband and supporting him in all his endeavors, including being one of the founding members of the Stamford Car Club. Pasty was a nurturing homemaker caring for her husband, son and loved a being “Granny” to her two granddaughters Lindsey and Lauren.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jimmie in 2001, her husband Joyce in 2008, daughter-in-law, Linda Pugh in 2018, two brothers, Coy Toney, and O. D. Toney, and her sister Imogene Bell.
Patsy is lovingly survived by her granddaughters and grandsons-in law: Lindsey and Jeff Luman of Lubbock, TX and Lauren and Cody Hilliard of Hawley, TX; a brother, Charles Ray Toney of McGregor, TX; 2 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Luman of Lubbock, TX and Connor Hilliard of Hawley, TX; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
