Oleta Faye Joiner

Oleta Faye Joiner, 90, of Abilene and formerly of Stamford, TX passed away Friday, November 3, 2023. Graveside Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2023, with Rev. Jeff Reid officiating in the Hamlin East Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Oleta was born in Hamlin, TX on January 2, 1933, to Bailey and Lois Branscum Meeks. Oleta graduated from Hamlin High School in 1951.

Oleta married her high school sweetheart on Friday, February 23, 1951, in Hamlin, TX. Jimmy and Oleta enjoyed 60 wonderful years of marriage before he passed away on October 11, 2010.

Oleta was an exceptionally accomplished domestic woman from her painting abilities, delicious cooking and sewing skills. She was lovingly known to her grandchildren as, “Memaw”.  Oleta was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stamford for many years. After she moved to Abilene, she joined Pioneer Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday school.

Oleta was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy, her parents, Bailey and Lois Meeks.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Jeannie Joiner of Abilene, TX; 1 son, Ron Joiner and wife Susan of Abilene, TX; 1 granddaughter, Megham Parker and husband Adam; 1 great granddaughter, Adelaide Parker.
