Mickey Gibbs Schoonmaker, 73, of Avoca and Stamford, TX communities passed away January 19, 2022, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, TX surrounded by family.
Mickey was born September 10, 1948, in Abilene, TX to the late James and Helen Gober. She graduated from Clovis High School. On January 29, 1966, Mickey married David Gibbs in Melrose, NM, to this union three daughters were born. Later in life Mickey was united in marriage to Darryl Schoonmaker of Avoca, TX.
Mickey worked many years for Jones County Grain dispatching 18 wheelers over 48 states and worked for Kindred Home Health Care for the last several years. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching QVC and buying clothes and shoes and being outside in her yard.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Gober, a brother, Leslie Gober, a sister, Linda Kay Hoadley, an aunt, Maggie Baldowski, a daughter, Lisa Ann Gibbs and husband, Darryl Schoonmaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Frazier, and husband Greg of Clovis, NM and Connie Mobley and husband Kyle of Fort Sumner, NM; four grandchildren, Justin Frazier, Kurt Frazier, Savannah Mobley, and Shelby Mobley of Clovis, NM; three great grandchildren; Jaylynn Hernandez, Kolt Frazier and Luke Frazier; two brothers, Jimmy Gober of Haskell, TX and Don Gober and wife Carol of Hobbs, NM; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel (807 Columbia Street Stamford, TX) with Pastor Paul Wright officiating. Burial will be in Melrose cemetery in Melrose, NM under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
