Michael Wayne Reed/Cook

Michael Wayne Reed/Cook, 69, of Stamford, left us on November 14, 2021 with his family by his side.

Michael was born in Stamford, TX on August 26, 1952 to Bobby Reed Sr. and Thelma Johnson. He was a member of the Bethel Church of God in Christ in Stamford, TX. He resided in Stamford and then moved to Snyder, TX where he raised his children and retired from Texaco Oil and Gas. Michael never met a stranger nor was he a stranger to hard work.  He was a jack of all trades and master of a few.  He graduated from Cisco Junior College in 1972 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science. Some of his hobbies include working at the hog pen, raising greyhound dogs, fixing cars, and teaching his girls business strategies with numbers and everything he knew with the littlest in tow.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Reed Sr., 1 brother, Aylois Cook and 1 sister, Elder Renee Reed.

He is survived by his mother, Thelma Johnson of Stamford, four daughters, Dr. Katrina Chance of Hamlet, North Carolina, Rose Stevenson of Arlington, Texas, Anissa Hatfield of Anson, Texas, and Devon Mitchell and husband Jarvis of Lewisville, Texas and siblings, Marilyn Griffin, Vernon Jones Sr., Vivian Bolden, Sandra Cook-Sanders, Karen McGee, Darrell Cook, Richard Johnson Jr., Joy Jenkins, Kevin Johnson, Linda Hobbs, Kevin Reed, Bobby Reed Jr. Rodrick Reed, and Ricky Reed Sr., nine grandchildren,  24 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Frist Baptist Church in Stamford, Texas with interment following at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford. The family will be receiving friends at the Tankersley Funeral Home on “Tuesday from 6 until 7 p.m.
