Mary Louise Cox, 65, of Stamford was born into this world on May 21, 1955 in Albuquerque, NM to Manuel Pryor and Stella Franklin. Mary passed to her eternal home on Monday, February 15, 2021. Visitation will be come and go from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021. Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 22 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Wright and Pastor Bobby Acosta officiating at Tankersley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
As a young adult Mary moved to Odessa, TX and worked at Texas Instruments for many years. She later moved to Vernon, TX where she worked at a private caregiver and eventually returned home to Stamford, TX. In Stamford Mary worked at Teakwood Manor along side of her mother and at the Cliff House Restaurant as a cook until her health began to fail.
Mary attended the House of God Church in Stamford, TX under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Acosta.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Chauncy Cox; 10 sisters: Willa Franklin, Toney Wesley (Dewayne), Alfredda Davis. Mary Franklin (Larry), Debra Franklin, Johnnie Franklin, Linda McGee (Curtis), Brenda Griggs (Odell), Essie Shackelford, Stella Woodard; 2 brothers: Ronnie Pryor (Val) and Jodie Franklin (Diana); 1 aunt, Vivian Pryor; 1 uncle, Jack Cochran; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins and a special friend, Melissa Jackson.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Manuel Pryor and 2 sisters, Glenda Franklin, and Betty Sue Cooper.
The family has requested everyone attending visitation or funeral services wear mask.
