Marvin Lee Stegemoeller

Marvin Stegemoeller, 83, entered eternal peace Monday, June 26, 2017.

Born January 17, 1934, in Sagerton, Texas, Marvin Lee Stegemoeller was the son of Clarence and Alice Schaake Stegemoeller. He attended school in Sagerton, TX and graduated from Rule High School. Marvin continued his education in Lubbock, TX, graduating from Texas Tech in 1955 and remained an avid supporter of the Red Raiders all his life.

On June 18, 1955 Marvin married Miss Verlene Ehlers in Wilson, Texas. The Stegemoeller’s were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell. In earlier years, he served on the church council at Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton for several years, taught the High School Sunday School Class and loved to sing in the church choir.

Marvin worked for the Soil Conservation from 1955 until 1965. In 1965, he ventured into agriculture as a self-employed farmer where he remained for 53 years. Mr. Stegemoeller was interested in helping others through civic club service and city government serving in numerous capacities including; being a member of the Lions Club in Rochester, served on ARB of Haskell County, served on City Council, was the Mayor of Rochester for 14 ½ years, served on the F.S.A. County Committee, served on O’Brien Co-op Gin Board until 2017. Marvin enjoyed people and liked to visit friends at Penman’s.

Mr. Stegemoellers memories will be cherished by his wife of 62 years, Verlene Ehlers Stegemoeller of Rochester, TX; 3 daughters, Susan Stegemoeller of Lubbock, TX, Marla Hawkins and husband Don of Knox City, TX, Brenda Turner and husband Robert Ace of Rule, TX; 1 son, Dennis Stegemoeller and wife Jana of Cisco, TX; 8 grandchildren; Lezlee Moore and husband Jared, Kimberly Torres and husband Salavador, Travis Hawkins, Samuel Turner and wife Sabra, Mathew Turner, Joseph Turner, Daniel Turner, Ashley Stegemoeller; 4 great grandchildren, Zanna Moore, Zayden Moore, Lucas Turner and Sterling Turner; 1 brother Leon Stegemoeller and wife Mae of Sagerton, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant children; Kay Lynell Stegemoeller and Kevin Dale Stegemoeller.

The family will be receiving friends and family during visitation, Wednesday, June 28 th from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 S. Columbia) Stamford, TX. Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (E US Hwy 380) in Haskell. Burial will be in Old Glory Cemetery in Stonewall County, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
