Lowell Milton Rowan

September 3, 1939 — August 31, 2023

Lowell Milton Rowan was born September 3, 1939, in Knox City, Texas to Walter Milton Rowan and Bernice Jerrene Rowan during the era of the Dust Bowl. His formative years were spent in the rural farming community of O’Brien, Texas.

During his teenage years, Lowell enjoyed singing in a gospel quartet, played six-man football for the O'Brien Bulldogs, and worked on the family farm in his spare time.  Lowell graduated from O'Brien High School in 1957, attended Hardin Simmons University, graduating in 1961 with a B.B.A. After college Lowell joined the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of captain while serving in the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War.  At Lackland Airforce Base, San Antonio, Texas, he met Sue Gilbert in the choir at the church they both attended and married in 1964.  He was honorably discharged in 1969, accepted a position as an accountant with Moore Business Forms, working there for over 30 years and retired in 2006.

Lowell was a staunch Christian, who loved gospel music and was committed to weekly fellowship at church, serving as a deacon. He was always happy, softly singing or humming a tune. He was a kind, beloved father with unwavering patience and charisma. He was a selfless, humble man devoted to God and his family.

In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football and Western classics, fishing and being outdoors working in the backyard garden, however, nothing gave him greater pleasure than being beside his family.

Lowell is survived by his wife Sue Gilbert Rowan and two sons: Paul Milton Rowan of Denton, Texas (wife Anastasiya Rowan, of Krasnoyarsk, Russia), David Lowell Rowan of Denton, Texas and (Abby L. Munk). Also surviving are brother Jerry Rowan (wife Margaret of Henrietta, Texas) and sister Debbie Burson, (Trey Burson of Haskell, Texas). Finally surviving are his grandchildren, Morgan Abbigail Rowan, of Denton, Texas, Justin Rowan of Arlington, Texas, Dylan Rowan, of Krasnoyarsk, Russia, Brooklynne Rowan and (Hunter Clark) great - grandchild Clementine, of McKinney, Texas,
