Lorenzo Contreras Sr.

Lorenzo Contreras, Sr. was born September 4, 1926 in Knott, Texas, the son of Francisco and Maria (Gonzales) Contreras. On Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 94, Lorenzo entered his eternal home. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Lorenzo’s family moved from Knott, Texas to Mexico, later he returned to the U.S., residing in Stamford the last 40 years. Lorenzo worked on farms in the Stamford area. Lorenzo was a simple, quiet man who enjoyed family gatherings, music, dancing, and collecting items to sell at flea markets. He was catholic by faith.

Lorenzo was preceded in death by his wife Consuela Gonzales, 3 sisters, Isabel Hernandez, Felecita Galindo, Maria Contreras, 1 brother, Pedro Contreras, Sr. 2 sons, Antonio Contreras, and Gerardo Contreras.

He is survived by 3 sons, Lorenzo Contreras, Jr. of Stamford, Beto Contreras of Del Rio, TX, Bernardo Contreras of Acuna, Mexico; 6 daughters, Gloria Garcia of Mexico City, Mexico, Fina Contreras, Alicia Vela, Marta Contreras, Victoria Contreras and Estella Contreras all of Acuna, Mexico; 3 brothers, Anastacio Contreras, Sr., San Perlita, TX, Jose Contreras of Mexico and Ray Cruz of Stamford, TX; 50 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Monday, November 9, 2020 at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Wright officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
