Kenneth James Marr was born to the late James Berry “JB” Marr and Evalynn (Ray) Marr on April 17, 1945, in Haskell, Texas. He departed this earthly life at the age of 78 years 9 months and 29 days on Friday, February 16, 2024, in Abilene, Texas.

Kenneth attended and graduated from Paint Creek High School in 1963. Kenneth and Miss Pat Woods were united in holy matrimony on April 19, 1964, in Haskell, TX. A union blessed for almost 60 years. Kenneth was drafted in the United States Army serving during the Viet Nam War from November 1966 to November 1968.

Kenneth was a man of faith, a community leader, and devoted to his family. He spent countless hours volunteering throughout his life at the Stamford Volunteer Fire Department, the Stamford Chamber of Commerce as a board member and past president. He also served on the boards of the West Central Council of Governments, the Jones County Selective Service Board, and working with the Texas Cowboy Reunion and the TCR parade. Kenneth treasured family time with his wife, children and being Papaw.

Papaw will be remembered for many memories of donuts, golf cart rides and fun times that “we don’t mention to Meme”. The grandsons’ memories include hunting and working with Papaw while the granddaughters were his special “sweetie pies” and were always on the lookout for a sneak attack.

Kenneth retired from the Texas Coca Cola Bottling Company after more than 20 years of service. He then became a self-employed business owner after establishing Marr Distributing Company.  A business he would operate for 11½ years before retiring.

Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents, JB, and Evelyn Marr, 1 brother, Von Marr, 1 sister, Joan Davies and 1 daughter Melissa Marr.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories his wife Pat Marr of Stamford; his son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Tina Marr of McKinney, TX; daughter, Mendy Jennings of Waco, TX; 6 grandchildren: Alleigh Kazanas, Will Jennings, Seth Jennings, Emma Jennings, Madison Marr, and Taylor Marr; 1 sister, Elaine Appleton of Winters, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
