Karolyn Oman, of Fort Worth, TX, died unexpectedly on January 22, 2024, at her residence. She was 84 years old.
Karolyn is survived by her cousins Lula Frances Lieb Hester and husband, David, Lyndol Lieb and wife Marilyn, Randy Lieb and wife Rowena, Ben Lieb and wife Amy and Weston Lieb and Austin Lieb, Judith Olga Taylor Smith, Taylor Smith and wife Carmen, Ryder Smith, Marlene Lieb, and Chari Lieb and husband John Maddox, John Bill Oman and wife Belinda, Darlene Mueller and husband Buddy, Vyron Thane, Sonny Olson and wife Jane, Rosemary and husband Billy John Edwards, Lee Roy Olson and wife Louella, Mimi Boedeker, Trussell Thane and wife Katrina and Diane Grigsby and husband John.
She is predeceased by her parents, Chester and Kay Oman, Aunt Olga and Uncle Dub Taylor who were like second parents to her, a special cousin, George Smith, Margarite Lieb and Henry Paul Lieb.
Karolyn Kay Oman was born on the family farm in Shackelford County, TX on November 15, 1939, to Chester and Ella Kathyleen (Lieb) Oman. She spent her formative years in the Shackelford and Jones County area, graduating from Stamford High School in 1957. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl. Karolyn was an intelligent lady with a gift to talk and reason with anyone no matter what their stature. She was a woman who had a mind of her own and most likely you were not going to change it! Karolyn worked many jobs including helping on the family farm, but primarily her intellect excelled in the secretarial world. She was employed by Rattkin Title Company and Judith & Taylor Smith – Service First Mortgage both in Fort Worth, TX. Karolyn had amazing typing skills on a typewriter with few to no typographical errors. However, computer technology was a bit concerning to her until learning she could contact friends all over the world while sitting in the comfort of her home. Karolyn was frugal and had good money sense. She had amazing maintenance abilities to care for her home and enjoyed beautiful flowers blooming in the flower beds. Karolyn enjoyed the outdoors, with her favorite outing being fishing a sport that she enjoyed all her life.
Karolyn’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with Rev. Richard Strait officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford, TX.
