Julio Villanueva

Julio Villanueva, 63, devoted husband, father and friend, of Stamford, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home.

Julio was born February 11, 1957 in Robstown, TX to Refugio Villanueva and Tomasa Garza Villanueva. A 1975 graduate of Hamlin High School, Julio had already begun his life career in the auto body shop business in Anson, TX while still attending high school. Julio continued his studies at TSTI in Sweetwater, TX where he majored in Automotive Body Shop. He was employed at Stamford Paint & Body Shop for several years before becoming the proprietor in 2001. He was dedicated to his business and the customers he served. Julio was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

On June 7, 1980, Julio married the love of his life, Miss Sandra Trevino at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford, TX a union that was blessed with two children, Bobby and Kimberly. One of the greatest blessing in his life was when he lovingly became known as, “Popo”, by his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gloria Munoz and 2 brothers, Jesus Villanueva and Joe Villanueva, Sr.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 40 years Sandra Villanueva of the home, son, Bobby Villanueva of Stamford, TX, daughter, Kimberly Maestas and husband Blaine Maestas, II, of Sweetwater, TX; 2 grandchildren, Blaine Maestas III and Alexis Maestas both of Sweetwater, TX; 3 brothers; Robert Villanueva and wife Sandy of Hamlin, TX, Ruben Villanueva of Stamford, TX, Frank Villanueva of Abilene, TX; 2 sisters Maria Chavez of Hamlin, TX and Delia Villanueva of Abilene, TX; a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to the Coronavirus restrictions a Private Graveside Service will be held under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
