Yvonne L Swofford

July 2, 1929 — June 5, 2024

Yvonne (Young) Swofford was born in Corinth, Texas, on July 2, 1929, to Loil and Azalea Young.  She passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas.  Funeral Services will be Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Larry LeFevre officiating.

Yvonne was a 1945 graduate of Old Glory High School.  After high school, she went off to college at the age of 16 and graduated from North Texas Teachers College in 1949.  Yvonne married the love of her life, Joe Swofford, on December 22, 1947.  They moved to Irving, Texas where Joe worked for American Airlines. They returned to the Sagerton / Old Glory area in 1964.  Yvonne was active in her community, serving as a member of Faith Lutheran Church and acting in the Sagerton Hee Haw as Minnie Pearl for 43 years.

She is now in the arms of our Lord and Savior and surrounded by her beloved husband Joe and her son Jay.  She is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Green and husband Kenny, and Susan Smith and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Brittany Arnold and husband Devin, Colt Pendergraft and wife Megan, Breann Briggs and husband Wesley, and Hagen Smith; great grandchildren, Cadince, Ella, Adelyn, Everly, Raleigh and one more on the way.
