Joyce Elaine Cox

Joyce Elaine Cox of Stamford, Tx, was welcomed to heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Feb 12, 2022.

Joyce was born August 22, 1933, in Hombolt, KS to T.G. and Hazel Cox.

Her father promised her a Smith-Corona typewriter if she would agree to move to Stamford for her senior year of high school.  She graduated from Stamford High School in 1951 and began working for the Grand Theater for the next 34 years. She went to work for Big Country Electric Stamford Co-op after the theater closed before retiring in 1999.

She is a member of First Baptist Church, and taught children’s Sunday School classes in the 1960’s. Joyce’s greatest joy in life was serving and caring for others.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Judy Cox, and two brothers, Wayne, and Fenton Cox.

Joyce is survived by her brother, Marvin Cox of Reno, Nevada. Even though Joyce never had her own children, she was a loving aunt to her surviving nephews, Tom Cox of Corpus Christi, Tx, Michael Cox, Orville, CA, Bruce Cox, Pleasanton, CA, Mike Cox of Reno, NV, and her nieces, Sue Simpson, Tracy, CA, Cathy Rollins, Nashville, TN, Cheryl Zankich, Sacramento, CA Patricia Cox Sunnyvale, CA, Brenda Brouwers, Reno, NV, 15 great nieces and nephews, and 19 great-great nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers and staff at Valley View nursing Home in Anson as well as her longtime friend, Jeanie Black, and caretaker, Alma Villanueva of Stamford.

The family will gather for visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 15 ^th at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia).  Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
