On Sunday morning, May 31, 2020, our beloved Father, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa, Jose Maria Ballesteros, Sr., passed to his home in heaven, at the age of 76.
Jose was born December 1, 1943 to Zacarias and Petra Rodriguez Ballesteros in Poblado de Dolores, Coah, Mexico. Jose met Carmelita at a dance and fell in love. They got married on May 21, 1968 in Stamford, TX where they lived until moving to Quanah, TX in 1969. He worked in farming all his life. Jose loved to work with cows and horses, work around the house, plant a garden, sit outside barbequing and drinking. He loved to watch football, boxing, and the news. He was most passionate about spending time with his children, grandchildren, and fishing. He could fish all day if he could. Even rain, thunder and lighting could not keep him from fishing.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Zacarias and Petra, his loving wife, Carmelita, of 39 years, a son Joe Ballesteros, Jr., and a sister Estela Ballesteros.
He is lovingly survived by a daughter, Carmelita Ballesteros, and husband Refugio Villanueva; a son Gilbert Ballesteros, Sr. all of Stamford, TX; 6 grandchildren; Crystal and Juan Gutierrez, Angelical Ballesteros and Dalton Ballesteros all of Abilene, TX, Abigail Ballesteros, Gracie Ballesteros, Ivan Ballesteros all of Marble Falls, TX Gilbert Ballesteros, Jr., of Wisconsin, Jessica Ballesteros of San Padre Island, and Zachary Ballesteros of Japan; 10 great grandchildren; Juan III, Ariella, Joe Michael, Anjelico, Sumi, Ella, Nevaeh, Xavier, Salena Rose, Noami and Evelyn Margaret; 2 brothers, Felicieno and wife Maria Teresa Ballesteros of Eagle Pass and Manue Ballesteros of Mexico; four sisters, Maria Ana Martinez, Rosa Alvarado, Maris Teresa Ballesteros and Graciela Ballesteros, all of Mexico; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford and a funeral mass will be at 3 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Chako Thadathil officiating and under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford. Burial will follow the mass at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, TX.
