John Thomas Young Jr.

John Thomas Young 53, of Dallas went home to our Heavenly Father Thursday, August 16, 2018. John was born on September 24, 1964 at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. He   was the son of the late Janie Alvarez Young of Arlington, Texas.

John graduated Stamford High School in 1983 where he was active in football for 4 years. He attended San Angelo State University and Cisco Junior College where he studied finance. He spent many years working in banking before changing career paths to the software industry.

His pride in joy in life were his two sons, Jack and Riley Young, with whom he loved spending quality time. Spare time enjoyment included, keeping up with the Stamford Bulldogs and attending their State Championship games, Texas Ranger baseball and a round of golf always             put a smile on his face. John also had a love for music and found peace in 80’s Classic rock.   He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with family. He loved air shows and took pride in his country.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Janie Alvarez Young, grandparents, Julio and Frances Alvarez, nephew, Anthony Moreno and cousin, Eric Alvarez.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jack and Riley Young both of Tyler, Texas; 1 brother, Michael Young and wife Lori of Dallas, Texas; 3 nephews, Michael Shane Young and wife Savannah and Justin Young all of Abilene, Texas; Jacob Moreno of Stamford, Texas; 1 niece, Alisia Moreno of Dallas, Texas; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his special lifelong friend, Jeanie Edwards Mueller.

John’s life will be celebrated during a Memorial Service 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2018           at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel (807 S. Columbia) with Pastor Bobby Acosta officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford, Texas.
