John Wiley Malone, Sr. was born October 2, 1942 in Los Angeles, California to C.G. and Opal (Wiley) Malone. He entered the gates of his enteral home on August 3, 2017, at the age of 74.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 5 th , 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 S. Columbia) Funeral Services will be Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Morton officiating. John chose to be cremated after his funeral services.
Mr. Malone served his country in the U.S. Army from August 3, 1960 until August 5, 1963. As a young child, he attended the Church of Christ. He worked as a route salesman for Texas Industrial Lining Co., Frito Lay and Borden’s Milk before becoming the assistant manager at M-System Grocery Store in Anson, TX. John has been a resident of this area since 1978. John was married to Betty Hunt Malone for 25 years, this union was blessed with four children to share: Janene, Johna, Rhonda and John, Jr. His personal time was spent fishing, reading western novels, with Louis L’amour being his preferred author, and listening to Elvis Presley, his all-time favorite musician that he enjoyed listening to all day long. John enjoyed family time when his children and grandchildren came to visit.
John’s life and memories will be cherished by his 4 children, Janene Powell and husband Kenny of Stamford, TX, Johna Messenger and husband Randy of Haskell, TX, Rhonda Miller and husband Rex of Wiley, CO., and John Malone Jr. of Stamford, TX; 1 sister, Esther Carey of Atlanta, GA; 9 grandchildren; Sharee Painschab and husband Jeremy, Miranda Hallford and husband Cody, Krista Powell, David Powell, Olivia Brown and husband Chris, Heather Shivers and husband Blaine, Blake Miller, Troy Miller and wife Adilene, Haleigh Newby and husband Brandon; 13 great grandchildren; Hannah Wilson, Bryson Wilson, Madison Hallford, Lexi Hallford, Jonathan Brown, Nathaniel Brown, Zoey Shivers, Jaiden Painschab, Jaxen Painschab, Sariah Painschab, Emma Wallace, Blair Miller and Kylin Newby, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding John in death were his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Malone and Mike Malone; 3 sisters, Geneva McNeil, Catherine Malone and Jean Jenkins.
