Janie Moreno Mendoza

Janie Moreno Mendoza, age 77, of Abilene and formally of Stamford, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. She was born in Robstown, TX to the late Merced Moreno and Martha Rios Moreno on August 21, 1942.

Janie moved to Stamford in 1948, where she attended Stamford school. She grew up attending St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford until moving to Abilene where she attended St. Francis Catholic Church. Janie worked for Girling Health Care, a job that she truly enjoyed. She relished family time with her children, grandchildren, and siblings.

Janie and Jenaro Mendoza, Sr., were united in marriage in 1966 at Stamford, TX. Jenaro preceded her in death on July 6, 1994.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jenaro Mendoza, Sr., six brothers, Merced, Jr. Larry, Raul, Frank, Faustino, and Sylvester, five sisters, Frances Gomez, Susie Vasquez, Carmen Ballesteros, Dominga Moreno and Aurelia Delgado.

She is survived by four sons, Jenaro Mendoza, Jr., and wife Margaret of Hamlin, TX, Johnny Mendoza and wife Rosie of Waxahachie, TX, Christopher Mendoza, and wife Gabriella of Ft. Worth, TX and David Jenaro Mendoza of Abilene, TX; two sisters, Irene Garcia and Rachel Perez; five brothers, Bernardo Moreno, Pete Moreno, Joe Moreno, Vince Moreno and Michael Moreno; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Deacon Juan Bustamante.
