James Harrell Wade

James Wade, 88, departed his earthly life on Monday, February 27, 2023, at the Stonewall Memorial Hospital to meet his Lord and Savior. James chose to be cremated with a private family service at a later date.

James Harrell Wade was born July 2, 1934, in the Plainview Community in Jones County to Alford Clinton and Maggie Mozelle (Davis) Wade. He was one of three sons and one daughter born to the Wade Family. James grew up in Anson where he attended school.

James married Wanda Burks in 1952 in Anson, Texas, a union blessed with three children: Karen, Kevin and Kerri Beth.

James was proficient in sports and excelled in bowling with the consideration of going pro at one time. Softball was one of his favorite sports playing well into his late 6o’s, followed by golf. In the less physical sports, dominos were the daily afternoon competition with his buddies. James owned and operated a service station in Anson and engaged in farming until 1978 when he bought out Doc Jones Implement in Stamford, TX, changing the name to Wade Implement. James worked many tireless hours as he loved to work at the implement house for 27 years before selling to his daughter, Karen in 2005. James was a member of Orient Street Church of Christ and a loving Papaw to his grandchildren.

Preceding James in death were his parents, son, Kevin Wade, infant daughter Kerri Beth, infant son Jonathon Wade, brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Bethene Wade.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Todd Washington of Flomot, Texas; 5 grandchildren; Chris Polk and wife Cathy of Anson, Texas, Jory Polk of Stamford, Texas, Kerri Sprecher and husband Shawn of Abilene, Texas, Hunter Walker and wife Rayven of Stamford, Texas, and Turner Wade of Haskell, Texas; four great grandchildren, Courtney Polk, Catie Polk, Caleb Polk all of Anson, Texas and Ariel Walker of Stamford, Texas; a brother Charlie Wade of Abilene, Texas; a sister Mary Simmons of Aspermont, Texas; a host of other relatives, friends and his extended family at the Stonewall Living Center in Aspermont, Texas.

Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers in memory of James to the Fairview Cemetery % Randy Brigham 1408 Landon St. Stamford, Texas 79553.
