Jackie Jordan

December 18, 1948 — October 10, 2017

William B. “Jackie” Jordan went to be with his Heavenly Father at the age of 68 on October 10, 2017. Jackie was born December 18, 1948 in Ysleta, Texas to Thomas and Dolly Jordan. From an early age, he was at Hendrick Home for Children in Abilene, spending time at the Hendrick’s Ranch north of Lueders. This was where he met his wife, Peggy Reves. They were married at the Lueders First Baptist Church on August 21, 1970. Jackie graduated from TCU Ranch Management program. Besides a brief time living and working on a ranch, Black Champ Farm in Waxahachie, Texas, they moved back to Lueders where he began farming and continued to raise their family for the next 45 years. They had three children, Jewellee, Will, and Cody Jack.

Jackie was a cowboy in his younger years, enjoying team roping, especially with his partner, Bruce Ford. He was the first to help in times of need and was always ready with a joke. He loved to make people laugh. He loved spending time with his family and his three grandsons, fishing, working, and cooking. Jackie loved being around lots of people, whether it was young friends, family, or neighbors stopping by, he loved playing host. He would volunteer to help the people in the community and often checked in on neighbors.

A little-known aspect of Jackie’s life, was that he was an avid reader and a lover of history. His house (and bathroom a.k.a. “The Library”) was full of books. Often around his family dinner table, a debate would begin, and he always had a book to prove his point. Later, he discovered the wonder of “Google”. Sunday afternoons for his family were times for road trips, historical markers, and stopping at every small museum or junk store that was open. He was extremely knowledgeable on many subjects.

He was preceded in death by his son Will Jordan. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Reves Jordan; his daughter, Jewellee and her husband Tracy Kuenstler, and his son Cody Jordan and wife Jamie; three grandsons, TJ Kent Kuenstler, Rylon Jack Jordan, and Mason James Jordan. Bobby and Sandra Reves, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Royce and Carolyn Burkman, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Nephews, Robert Kershman of Abilene and Mickey Reves and his wife Tiffany of Little Elm, Texas; nieces, Kristi Oden of Kentucky and Sheila Wagner and her husband Mike of Frisco, Texas. Numerous great nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Rockdale Cemetery in Haskell County. The family will be receiving friends at the Tankersley Funeral Home at 807 S. Columbia in Stamford on Thursday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
