Hermon R Cooper

August 23, 1937 — February 19, 2020

Hermon Romanuel Cooper was born August 23, 1937 in Stamford, Texas to Amos Cooper and Autry Lee Hammond Cooper. He was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Betty Sue, on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.

Hermon attended school in Stamford. He was employed at the Cliff House Restaurant as a cook for about 30 years. He was a member of the Solomon Temple Baptist Church in Stamford. Hermon loved to fish and he raised and sold hogs for many years.  He had a love of food, especially soul foods and sweets.

Hermon was preceded in death by; his parents, his wife Betty Sue Cooper on October 21, 2015, 5 bothers: Beauregard Johnson, Frank Williams, Henry Lee Cooper, Zerlee Cooper and Otis Cooper; 4 sisters: Winnie Cooper, Gladys Burdon, Irene Polk and Elvira Craig.

Survivors include his children, Derrick Cooper of Stamford, TX, Laquitta Martin and husband John  of McKinney, TX, Mary Stearns of Los Angeles, CA, Rudy Rodriquez and wife Maria of Odessa, TX, Santiago Rodriquez and wife Melissa  of Waxahachie, TX, Jody Salgado of Odessa, TX and Joseph Pryor of Stamford, TX; a sister Mae Cooper of Abilene, TX; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church (214 N. Swenson) Stamford, TX with Rev. Donny Massey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford.
