Minnie Cantu, 76, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford, TX with Father Albert Devanesan officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. The Rosary will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Tankersley Funeral Home, 807 Columbia, Stamford, TX.
Herminia “Minnie” Soto Cantu was born to the late Pedro and Benita (Macias) Soto on July 24, 1947, in Old Glory, Texas. Minnie was a lifetime resident of the area and attended school in Rule, Texas. Minnie and Dionicio Nick Cantu were united in marriage on September 16, 1967, in Sagerton, TX, a union that was blessed with 6 children.
Minnie enjoyed a life of simplicity with her family gathering for barbecues, going camping, to a simple hair cut that she did not like anyone messing with! She enjoyed watching western movies, doing crossword puzzles, and going dancing. Minnie’s favorite sports were softball and football, and her teams were the Stamford Bulldogs and the Green Bay Packers… and you always knew if they won or lost!! Minnie was a dedicated “Momo” and supporter of all her grandkids activities for as long as she was able to attend.
Minnie was preceded by her parents, Pedro and Benita Soto, a special aunt, Andrea Kittley, and 8 siblings.
Minnie leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Nick Cantu of Stamford, TX; her 6 children all of Stamford, TX: Patricia Gonzales and husband Angel Garcia, Tammy Cantu, Chris Cantu and wife Stacy, Alex Cantu, Adrain Cantu and wife Heather, Melissa Cantu; two brothers, Jack Barrientos and Tony Barrientos both of Dallas, TX; one sister, Nellie Cantu of Dallas, TX; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous friends.
