Golda June Neff

July 29, 1936 — February 5, 2021

June was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Our “Nana,” as she liked to be called by her grandchildren, was a selfless, kind, strong woman with a tremendous will to live.

June’s life story began on July 29, 1936, as one of seven children born to Walter “W.R.” and Bertha (Mickler) Hager in Stamford, TX. She was a cheerleader and a 1954 graduate of Paint Creek High School.

As a young lady June worked at the Stamford American Newspaper. She later pursued a career in the retail business, working at C.R. Anthony’s and Montgomery Wards. She loved working in the retail business and helping her customers select the perfect outfits with her keen eye for fashion.

She was a strong matriarch of her family, a good friend to all, a woman who would give her shirt for a friend. June was a loving and devoted mother who cared for her children and did the best she could to teach and guide them.

June was renowned for her cooking and baking skills, but could manage the family farm, while being a loving caregiver to her parents.

June Hager Neff, 84, of Stamford, TX went to meet her Savior and be reunited with her parents, sister, 5 brothers, and her daughter, Melanie Carter on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Lovingly known as “June bug” her memories will be treasured by her daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Houston McGuire of Miles, TX; 9 grandchildren, Trace Slauenwhite, Dillan Slauenwhite, Chad Carter, Adam Carter, Taylor Kohler and husband Nathan, Morgan Bloodworth and husband John, Houston McGuire and wife Becca, Brittney McGuire, and Kenzi McGuire; 12 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia) Stamford, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with David Hager officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery in Haskell, TX.
