Glenn West

January 9, 1948 — November 5, 2022

There are people who walk this earth and touch the lives of many. Their going away is a gentle reminder that angels are watching over us. Glenn West, 74, rejoined his heavenly family on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

Glenn was born on January 9, 1948, in Stamford, Texas. He was the only son of five children born to Peggy Moore West and Dempsey West. As the only boy in the West Family Glenn was always present to help his sisters. Glenn attended school in Stamford before completing his education with a GED and earning his plumber’s license. Glenn owned and operated West Plumbing in Stamford for 40 plus years.

Glenn served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Campaign. His tour began on February 19, 1968, and extended until February 18, 1974, during which time he earned several medals including a Bronze Star.

To the union of Glenn and Kaye Watts Carter were born three beautiful daughters: Charlotte, Stacy, and Sindi, to whom Glenn adored and enjoyed doing life with. Glenn later married Eva Mae Conner adding to his family her children.

Glenn had a giving heart and volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels, Pink Ladies, working in his church, and helping with the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Glenn had a loving compassionate spirit in caring for his family. His life revolved around his daughters, sisters, and especially the grandchildren. He spent endless hours being “Grandpa or G pa”, taking the grandchildren to the fair, movies, Mr. Gatti’s Pizza, and the list goes on… Glenn taught his daughters the importance of loving your family and spent quality time together with them on many cruises they shared, a tradition his daughters want to carry on with their families. Glenn also shared family time with his sisters on numerous cruises. He enjoyed the fellowship, scenery, and the casinos on each cruise. He was lovingly known on one cruse ship as “Mr. Miyagi”.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Dempsey, and Peggy.

Those who will continue to cherish and carry on his memories include his wife, Eva Mae West of Stamford, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Scottie Myers of Abilene, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and James Miller of Waxahachie, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Sindi and Daniel Whitworth of Abilene, TX; 4 sisters: Rickie Wright and husband, Danny of Clifton, TX; Carolyn Middleton of Lubbock, TX; Donna Duncan of Midlothian, TX; Wanda West of Lubbock, TX; 6 grandchildren: Sara Gorman, Seth Myers, Ethan Whitworth, Ashlyn Miller, Joseph Whitworth and Ellee Miller; a host of other relatives and friends.

Glenn’s family will gather for visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Avoca Methodist Church fellowship hall. Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Huffaker and Rev. Eric Samaniego officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery east of Stamford under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
