Garland Ray Jeter,76, a former resident of Lueders, TX passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019, in Smithville, TX where he had resided since 2011.
Garland was born in Portales NM December 14, 1942, to the late Robert Howard Jeter and Estie Florence (Staggs) Jeter. He attended Grandfalls-Royalty High School in Grandfalls, TX. Garland worked in the oilfield business as a roughneck.
His personal time was spent in the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Garland was a man who enjoyed family and his greatest love in life came when grandchildren became a part of his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents; 1 son, Donald Ray Jeter; 2 sisters, Cleo Louise Miller and Berneta Kay Sparks; and 1 brother Alvin Lynn Jeter.
Survivors include; 1 son Douglas Wayne Jeter and wife Lisa of Shawnee, OK; 2 daughters, Rhonda Gayle Johnston and Virginia Lynn Rocha and husband Rob all of Smithville, TX; 2 brothers, Robert Jeter and wife Dorothy of Stamford, TX and Roy Mosier and wife Theresa of Lueders, TX; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 4-6 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia) in Stamford, TX. Funeral Services will be Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Wingrove officiating. Burial will follow in Clearfork Cemetery in Lueders, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
