Freddie Acosta

July 27, 1957 — November 29, 2020

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Freddie Acosta, was born to Ben and Pauline (Ramos) Acosta on July 27, 1957, in Stamford, TX. He peacefully passed to join his Savior on November 29, 2020, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX. He was 63 years old.

Freddie was a lifetime resident of the Stamford area. He received his education in the Stamford schools.

Freddie was employed as a cotton ginner at several gins including Denson Gin, Tuxedo, Haskell, Hamlin, Roby, Rule and Sagerton.

On October 10, 1973, he was united in marriage to Ortencia Mendoya at Sinton, Texas. They established their home in Stamford Texas. Many happy times were shared as they raised their family of eight daughters and two sons. As a family they enjoyed the time they spent together at family gatherings and barbeques. Freddie liked to fish and was a jack of all trades.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two granddaughters, Sarai Perez, and Addison Avila, one brother Daniel Acosta, two sisters, Helen Martinez, and Nancy Chairez.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Ortencia Acosta of Stamford; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Henry Jimenez of Stamford; daughter, Linda Acosta of Stamford; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Eddie Perez of Stamford; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Jason Hickman of Stamford; daughter Tessie Tejeda of Stamford; daughter, Angelysea Zarate of San Angelo; daughter, Avril Zarape of San Angelo; daughter, Destiny Martin of San Angelo; son, Alfred Avila of Knox City; son and daughter-in-law, Alex and Shawnee Lough of Burleson; brother, Ernest Acosta; brother Gary Acosta; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Stephanie Acosta; brother, Norman Acosta; brother, David Acosta; brother Robert Acosta; brother, Chris Acosta; sister, Teresa Acosta; sister Cindy Acosta; sister Sandra Rodriquez; sister Leslie Cavazos; step dad, Joe Perez of Stamford; 16 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his beloved fur baby, Wally; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services honoring Freddie will be held Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the House of God Church (802 S. Ferguson) Stamford, TX with Pastor Bobby Acosta officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
