Eugenio Cruz Jr.

Eugenio Cruz. Jr, beloved son, devoted father, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend to many passed from this life on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age of 28. Eugenio’s untimely death occurred while doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle.

Eugenio was born December 28, 1994, in Elmhurst, Illinois to Eugenio Cruz, Sr., and Rosemary (Garza) Cruz. He was a 2014 graduate of Stamford High School.  At the time of his death, Eugenio was employed as a machine operator by Great Lakes Cheese in Abilene, TX.

Eugenio was a good guy with a kind soul who was happy, joking and “always right”. Eugenio was a devoted father to his son “Buddy” and enjoyed the time they shared at the park and playing video games. He and Michael shared a close bond as brothers. His favorite pass time of entertainment was playing disc golf and riding his motorcycle. Eugenio enjoyed the simple things in life: sketching graffiti, listening to music and family time.

He is survived by his parents, Eugenio Cruz, Sr, and Rosemary Cruz; his son, Eugenio Cruz, III; his brother, Michael Garcia, and wife Melinda; 6 sisters: Maria Perez, Michelle Solis, and husband Felix. Claudia Cruz, Rosamaria Cruz, Verronica Weathersby and husband Dustin, and Christina Cruz; mother of his son, Nikki Ortiz and many more family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Melesio and Pauline Garza and Francisco and Juanita Cruz.

Eugenio’s family and friends will celebrate his life at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Arockia Dhass officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia) Stamford, TX on Friday, October 20th at 6:00 p.m.
