Edna Nell Baker

Edna went to her eternal home on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Edna, 84, was born March 9, 1936 in Swenson, TX to Vertis Norman and Eddie Sparks.

Edna, lovingly know as “Sugar-Do” moved back to Stamford from Pampa, TX in 1973 and completed her education at Abilene High School. She worked for WTU for over 23 years before retiring. Edna began another career with Girling Home Health where she worked an additional 10 years.

Edna was united in marriage to C.R. Baker in August of 1951. In June of 2004, Edna married Michael W. Cook Reed.

Edna was a member of Faith Deliverance Church in Abilene, TX. She rededicated her life to God in 2003.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Eddie Sparks, father, Rev. Parrish Norman, grandmother, Elle Lee, son Charles Sparks, brothers, Leroy Flye, Vertis Norman, Johnny Lee Norman, sisters, Lonnell Davis, Inez Thornton, niece, Victoria Coffield, grand daughter, Rosalind R. Baker, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lewis Rose.

Edna leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Michael Cook Reed; her son, Ronald D. Baker, Sr. and wife Gwen of Stamford, TX; four nieces, Barbara Cole (Charles) of Chula Vista, CA, Mae Hines (Marlin), Sallye Norman all of Abilene, TX, Linda Campbell of Dallas, TX; three nephews, Wayne White, Rev. Vertis Leroy Norman, II (Anita) of Nacogdoches, TX; daughter-in-law Marylin Griffin Sparks; 3 grandchildren, Ronald D. Baker, Jr., (John) of Ft. Worth, TX, Valana L. Sparks, Wylie, TX, Tiesha Carson (Shomari) of Copperas Cove, TX; great grandchildren, LaKquise L. Sparks of Rowlett, TX, Marquise Blue, Wylie, TX, Mary Elizabeth Baker Barnes of Wichita Falls, TX, Erick Blue (Mystee) of Crowley, TX, Jason Dreadhead Hayling of Tallahassee, FL, Tristen Marez, and, Teiana Marez both of Copperas Cove, TX, Vanessa DeLeon and Damion Stevenson both of Kileen, TX; nine great great grandchildren, Ja’cobi, Ja’niah, Alaysyah-Marie R. Baker, Remington X. Barnes, Ariana Moore, Malachi Williams, Zyaire Miller, Zavion Miller and Mathew Marze; numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Elder Jerry Jordan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
