Earl Baker Jr.

The life of Earl Baker, Jr. will be celebrated on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. Earl passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the age of 73.

Earl was born on June 3, 1950. Earl was a resident of Stamford, TX for 48 years moving here on September 23, 1976, from Terrell, Texas. He resided at Sagebrush Living Center until 2020, when he relocated to Harmony Care Center. Earl enjoyed people and standing outside the care centers waving as people drove past or stopped to visit with him. Earl was employed by Lawrence Brothers grocery store where he sacked and carried groceries for 10 years. He would always tell the patrons’ as he took their groceries in their cars, “I’ll get this” and when finished he would close with, “Have a good day” as he turned to go about waiting on his next customer.  And…he always appreciated receiving a tip for carrying your groceries to your car, leaving with a big smile.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Clifton Baker.

He is survived by close friends David and Connie Mims of Stamford, TX Doug and Connie Stanley of Stamford, TX and the staff and residence of Harmony Care Center.
