Dolin Frazier Hughes, 82, of Stamford, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 13, 2022 at Spring Creek Cemetery at Avoca, TX with Rev. Steve Patterson and Jody McGaughey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Dolin was born on December 27, 1939 in Stamford, TX to Morris “Slue” Hughes and Ruby Clothilde Ivy Hughes. He graduated valedictorian from Paint Creek High School in 1958. Dolin obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mathematics and education from the University of North Texas.
After graduation, Dolin went to work for Lockheed at NASA in Houston. He was a computer programmer and assisted with the mission to the moon. He also worked for LTV in Grand Prairie before returning to Stamford to farm, day trade and manage rental properties. His hobbies included genealogy and astronomy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his wife Carolyn, several aunts, uncles, and special friend Myrna Kelly.
Dolin was raised an only child but is survived by many Hughes, Ivy, and Houston cousins, including his “across the alley” cousins Brent Bolding, Tamara McGaughey and Kara Bolding with whom he spent many holidays and special occasions. He was a master manipulator at Liverpool Rummy, and liked mince meat pie, English peas, and his cats Bullseye and Tiggy.
Dolin’s extended family would like to express their appreciation and thank the staff of Bright Pointe at Lytle Lake and Hendrick Hospice for their care.
