Dennis Ray Doty

Dennis Ray Doty was born on May 7, 1935, to the union of J.B. Doty and Ethel Watts Doty near Corinth in Jones County, TX. He attended the public schools in Paint Creek, TX.

Dennis was a longtime resident of Jones County, where he worked as a tractor mechanic until 1977, when he moved to Brownwood, TX to work for an auctioneer company. In 1988 the Doty’s relocated to Winters, TX before making their final move to Stamford in 2003. Dennis was a member of the Baptist church. Dennis preferred to spend his time outdoors attending flea markets, tending to his numerous chickens, enjoying his fur babies: four dogs, Tippy, Toby, Lady, Joe and one cat named Festus.

Dennis married Sue Rawlins on December 17, 1986 in Altus, OK.

Dennis departed this life on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 wives, Jeanie “Sunshine” Collins Doty and Tommie Louise Doty, 1 son, Steve Doty, grandson, Christopher Doty, 3 brothers-in-law, Jerry Collins, Dennis Collins, and James Collins.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel at 807 Columbia in Stamford. Burial will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his life: daughter Natasha Howard of Stamford, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shannon Doty of Ovalo, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Mildred Doty of Winters, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Aelita and Danny Mayfield of Dallas, TX; son, Randall Wilks of Chicago; daughter and son-in-law, Charity and Joe Reese of Moriarty, NM; brother and sister-in-law, Donny and Natoma Doty of Anson, TX; brother, Bill Doty of Stamford, TX; 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
