Dean Maurice Quade was born November 24, 1934, in Knox City, TX, the son of Walter Carl and Freida Louise (Neinast) Quade. On Saturday, June 27, 2020 Dean passed away to follow his Savior. He was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, and a person who loved his Lord, dogs, and cattle. He was 85 years old.
A 1954 graduate of Rule High School, Dean continued his education at Texas Tech University, to a earn a degree in Animal Husbandry. He married the love of his life Patsy Elder on June 12, 1960 in Panhandle, TX.
Dean and Patsy lived in Lubbock, Texas and Lake Buchanan, TX while Dean was employed with Penney’s. Dean later moved his family to Shreveport, LA where he worked for Sears, and eventually relocating to Texarkana where he worked for the government Ammo Depot. In 1972, the Quade Family returned home to settle in the Sagerton area and engage in farming.
As members of the Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton, Dean and Patsy enrolled in the first class, provided by the NT-NL Synod of the ELCA in 2000 to become a Parish Lay Ministers. The couple later served their church as PLM’s among many other roles.
Dean enjoyed working with wood and building houses. He also was artistically talented, be it painting on canvas, cutting out and painting wooden yard Christmas decorations to painting Santa Claus on paper for the front door of the family home.
Dean became an avid traveler, once his granddaughter convinced him he could “actually” get on a plane and fly, and he also discovered cruise ships to be a fun adventure. Some of his travel destinations included Ruidoso, NM, Las Vegas, NV, Alaska, Europe, and New York.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Janet Quade in 1992 and brother LaMarr Quade.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patsy, of the home; son and daughter in law, Kerry and Marsha Quade, of Knox City; son and daughter in law, Steven and Julie Quade, of San Angelo; daughter and son in law, Debbie and Mike Cox of San Marcos, and son and daughter in law, Philip and Shanna Quade, of San Angelo; 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday morning, July 1, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton, TX with Pastor Paul Cannon officiating. Covid-19 restrictions will be observed. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery in Haskell, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia) on Tuesday, June 30 th , from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
