Dave Arnold Letz, 70, met his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 16th, 2026. Davey Boy, as his parents and sisters loving called him, is now free of pain and can easily breathe in the perfection of heaven.
Dave was born on August 10, 1955 in Haskell, TX to David Letz and Leona Thane Letz. He grew up as a farm boy near Old Glory, TX, raising chickens, hogs, and ducks, playing with his dogs, and plowing the field ahead of his dad’s planter beginning at the age of 10! In his spare time, Dave loved to hunt dove and deer. He attended Old Glory School through his sophomore year and when his family moved to Sagerton, TX, he transferred to Stamford High School where he made many lifelong friends. Being a loyal friend was always a priority to Dave and he treasured all the friendships from his 1973 graduating class.
Following high school, Dave became a nationally registered x-ray technician after attending Hendrick Medical Center, graduating from Radiology School in 1976. That career led him to serving patients in surgery, at Orthopedic Associates, the Abilene State School, and at the Stamford Hospital. He continued his education at McMurry University finishing in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout his life, Dave continued to assist with farming in Old Glory. Raising cattle and spending time in the quiet peacefulness of the farm gave him immense pleasure!
Dave met his wife, Debra Riddle, while a student at Stamford High School. They married on June, 12, 1976 and lived their entire married life in Abilene. Their marriage was blessed with three children that he adored, April, Amber and Alan. Unity as a family was always a goal. Dave accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton, TX. He wanted his family to worship together in one faith. Dave was baptized along with his children and became a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He served as a 3rd grade Sunday School teacher for several years.
Dave is survived by his wife, Debbie, of Abilene, his children, April Tedford (Jason) of Aledo, TX, Amber Ramirez (George) of Montgomery, TX and Alan Letz (Jennifer) of College Station, TX. His grandchildren are Kailyn Speed, Addison Speed, Sawyer Tedford, Jacob Ramirez, Cole Ramirez, Elizabeth Letz, David Letz, Rebekah Letz, and Sarah Letz. Dave is also survived by his sisters, Rebecca Galloway (Ron) and Cindy Kirby (Bob), his brothers-in-law, Johnnie Riddle and Ronnie Riddle (Patty).
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, David and Leona Letz, his wife’s parents, J.C. and Ola Riddle, and his sister-in-law, Sandra Riddle.
Serving as pallbearers are nephews, Sam Peterson, Matthew Galloway, Shae Creel, Christopher Riddle, Sterling Riddle and Jack Hammond as well as dear friends Chad Teichelman and Casey Roberson. The family wishes to honor friends that have been supportive throughout his life as honorary pallbearers: Bob Carpenter, Oscar Cedillo, Pete Garcia, Marc Keppner, Jon Lovvorn, Jorge Ramirez, and David Sadler.
A worship service is scheduled to celebrate his life Saturday, May 23,2026 at 11:00 AM at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, 701 S. Pioneer Dr. Abilene TX 79605. Family will meet for visitation at the church at 10:00 AM before the service. Burial will follow at the Old Glory Cemetery at 1:15 pm.
