Consuelo Vasquez Gonzales

Consuelo Vasquez Gonzales, age 88, of Stamford, TX passed away Monday, June 17, 2019.

Rosary will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel (807 Columbia). Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20 ^th at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Chako Thadathil officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Consuelo was born May 27, 1931 at Batesville, TX to Lorenzo Vasquez and Matiana Gomez Vasquez. She moved to Uvalde in 1949 where she resided until moving to the Big Country area in 1968. Consuelo moved to Stamford in 1972 where she met her companion for the next 47 years, Lorenzo Contreras, Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Lucia Martinez, 2 brothers, David Vasquez and Felipe Vasquez, 7 sons and 1 daughter.

Survivors include; her companion, Lorenzo Contreras of Stamford, TX; 7 children, Juanita Edmonds of Wyoming, Emma Gutierrez (Juan) of Abilene, TX, Paula Cruz (Ray) of Stamford, TX, Anufo Gonzales (Maria) of Uvalde, TX, Beatrice Gonzales of Altus, OK, Rafael Gonzales (Lisa) of Plainview, TX, Daniel Aviles of Breckenridge, TX; 3 brothers, Gilbert Vasquez of Hale Center, TX, Roy Vasquez of Lubbock, TX; and Alfredo Vasquez of Lubbock, TX; 32 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
