Charles Mallory Reed was born in O’Brien, TX to Charlie Abner and Mary Sue Walsworth Reed on December 2, 1933.
Charles followed his Savior to his eternal home on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
He attended school in O’Brien and later moved to Knox City where he graduated from high school. He was an educator who began his career as a teacher, coach and principal at New Caney, TX. Charles later moved to Knox City where he spent 11 years in the school system serving as superintendent, principal, teacher, and coach. He retired in 1993 after working 31 years as an educator.
He was a member of the Knox City Baptist church where he served as a deacon.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Tommy, two sisters Jane Finley and Martha Holder.
He is survived by his wife, Faye of the home; sons, Mel Reed and wife Sheryll from Snyder, TX, and Kevin Reed of Knox City, TX; one grandson, Brady Reed and wife Ashley of South Haven, KS; one granddaughter, Wendy Halmon and husband Jeffrey of Snyder, TX; he was blessed with six great-grandchildren: Maddie, Brynlee and Macy Reed of South Haven, KS and J.C., Kylan and Kinsley Halmon of Snyder, TX; one sister, Evelyn DeBoard and husband Ken of Thelma, KY.
Graveside rites will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the Knox City Cemetery in Knox City, TX with J.M. Emerson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford, TX.
