Casimira "Susie" Sanchez Escobedo

Casimira “Susie” Sanchez Escobedo, the daughter of Casimiro and Conception Sanchez was born on May 24, 1942, in Karnes, TX. She passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 79. A Rosary will be held at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia) at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumble officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Casimira was a longtime resident of Stamford, TX. On August 2, 1971, she married the love of her life Tony Escobedo in Frederick, OK. Tony and Susie owned and operated Escobedo Upholstery and Furniture Repair for 44 years. Susie actively worked along side her husband in the daily operations of their business until he passed away in 2018.

Susie will be remembered for her love of cooking, baking, decorating for the holidays, gardening, spending time with family, laughing, and being her spunky little self. More than anything she will be remembered for the love she gave to each member of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimiro and Conception Sanchez, her husband, Tony Escobedo, 2 brothers, Joe, and Jesse Sanchez, one sister, Margarita Arreola, one daughter, Joanna Salas, one son, Johnny Salas, a grandson, Justin Villa, and one great granddaughter, Cheyanne Rey Fuentes.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Irma Salas and husband Juan Coronado, and Elvia Villa all of Stamford; 1 son, Joe Salas, and wife Gayla of Stamford; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter; 2 brothers, Ramon Sanchez of Kansas, and John Sanchez of Stamford; 1 sister, Maria Reyes of Pleasanton, TX and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
