This is the story of our beloved Brice Wayne Crippen. Brice was a wonderful man who made a positive impact on everyone he met. He loved big and cherished every minute he spent with his wife, children, family, friends, colleagues, students, and athletes. Brice followed his Savior home on Saturday, July 8, 2023, to play the beautiful golf courses in heaven.
Brice’s story begins in Lubbock, Texas, on August 20, 1968. He is the middle child to Frank T. Crippen III and Kay (Treadwell) Crippen and the brother to Bud and Candy Crippen. He was proud of growing up in Mineral Wells, Texas, because this is where he made many of his lifelong friends. Brice developed a love for the game of basketball and played for many years. After graduating from Mineral Wells High School in 1986, he attended Howard Payne University and continued playing basketball. Brice transferred to Tarleton State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Tarleton is also where he met the love of his life, Amy Chandler. Brice and Amy were united in marriage in Stephenville, Texas, on November 28, 1998. They then moved to Weatherford, Texas, and began their beautiful life together.
Brice had a genuine, caring soul that was reflected in all that he did. He truly lived life to its fullest and found joy in making others laugh. Brice was very passionate about his career as an educator and coach. His 22 years in education span form Fort Worth ISD to Stephenville ISD, White Settlement ISD, Peaster ISD, Aledo ISD and Weatherford ISD. During his time in Weatherford, he taught at the ninth-grade center and was the varsity assistant girls basketball coach. Then in 2018, he began teaching at Weatherford High School and served as the Head varsity, junior varsity, and freshman boys and girls golf coach.
Brice was a very involved daddy, and you would always find him at each of his children’s activities. He loved coaching their sports team when they were growing up and cheering them on from the sidelines. During their high school years, you would find him at a football game watching Ashley perform in the drill team, on a golf course watching Chandler and Ansley play varsity golf, or in the stands cheering and videotaping Bryson’s varsity track meets. He was their biggest fan and supporter in all that they did!
Brice loved people and had a contagious personality; in fact, he never met a stranger! He enjoyed fishing and playing basketball, golf, and cornhole. His favorite pass time with his family was spent on a boat at Possum Kingdom Lake, at the Cliff’s Golf Course & Resort or on a family vacation to the beach. Brice loved his role as “Dude” to his nephews and grandbabies. He loved his Lord and Savior and worshiped at the Christ Chapel Bible Church West Campus.
Brice’s legacy will carry on through his loving wife of 24 years, Amy Chandler Crippen; his 4 children: daughter Chandler Briley Crippen, son Bryson Walker Crippen, daughter Ansley Christine Crippen, daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Lane Keenan; grandchildren Dean and Caroline Keenan; his parents, Frank T.
